Two days before our event I suffered my second back injury within a matter of eight days causing me to have a severe Lumbar Sprain in my third and fourth Lumbar Vertebrae. The first two days I couldn’t even stand up straight. I was absolutely disheartened knowing that coastering would be out of the question. I spent the Saturday at SFKK in a wheelchair and I must say it gave me a unique perspective and also was very impressed with the kindness shown to me my SFKK staff and my fellow attendees.
First and foremost a big thank you to Trent Turner as I told him I would need to rent a wheelchair and by the time I passed through the gate and security the chair was waiting for me. Trent would not accept a deposit and said we would settle up at the end of the day. Several times throughout the day Trent approached me and made sure I was doing OK.
I would also like to say thank you to the young male employee standing at the midway game beside the Ferris wheel. It was getting on in the day and I was struggling to push myself along. He without having to be asked pushed me up the ramp, over the bridge and down onto the front midway. He was then off before I could get his name.
Lastly, at the end of the day when I went to return the chair the young woman employee would not take any money even though I strongly insisted.
Even though I was not able to ride I still enjoyed that feeling of excitement on the faces of the attendees and watching how much fun everyone was having. I want to say a thank you to each attendee that helped push my chair when I was feeling tired. I believe this really shows that ACE is about the people as much as it is about the coasters.
